Shirley B. Smith, age 69, of Forest, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at her home in Forest.
Shirley was born on January 5, 1945 in Bucyrus, Ohio, to William Wilson and Joyce (Bedore) Moore, both of whom are deceased. She married Fred L. Smith on June 7, 1969 and he passed away on June 4, 2003.
She is survived by 5 children: Joel (Gail) Searls of Upper Sandusky, Tami Moore of McCutchenville, Tom Smith of Kirby, Tonya (Phil) Bare of Upper Sandusky and Tanessa Montgomery of Forest. 7 grandchildren Terry Compton, David Compton, Zachary Lazza, Darrel Bare, Gage Bare, Makaylah Bare, and Ridge Montgomery, along with 8 great grandchildren, Dominic, David, Ethan, Blake and Lucas Compton, Amiah Bare, Carter Thornton and Bradley Montgomery.
Shirley is survived by 2 brothers, Robert "Nick" Ruby of Sadsburyville, PA., Wilson "Jack" Moore of Upper Sandusky, and 4 sisters, Martha "Betty" Shinkle of Zanesville, Edna Boyer of Upper Sandusky, Elizabeth Ward of Upper Sandusky, Carolyn Leeth of Upper Sandusky, and a very special family friend, Jeffrey Uribe.
She was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Bane Bear and a brother William Ruby Jr , and a 2 sisters Alice Burks, and Helen Robertson.
Shirley was a retired supervisor from Blackhawk in Upper Sandusky, formerly Millington Plastics, where she had worked
for 35 years.
For hobbies she enjoyed singing karaoke, playing the slots in Las Vegas, playing cards, Skip-Bo, and watching movies. She was a long time fan of Elvis and also enjoyed reading, especially books by Nora Roberts.
Funeral services for Shirley B. Smith will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, September 18, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Casual attire is preferred by the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, or the American Heart Association, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
