Shirley G. Adkins

Shirley G. Adkins, age 88, of Carey, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at The Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Shirley was born on August 26, 1935, to Orb and Effie Mullins. She was married to Denver Douglas Adkins on July 12, 1960, in Wise, Virginia, and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2015.

Shirley is survived by her 2 daughters, Sharron E. (Joseph) Fleck of Carey, Ohio, and Catherine A. Whitaker of Arcadia, Florida, 5 grandchildren: Amy Jo (Kevin) Jordan, Jennifer Anne (Robert) Ramge, Ryan (Stephanie) Kitzler, Joshua (Erin) Kitzler, and Seth (Chelsea) Kitzler, and 10 great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by 2 sisters; Margaret Addair, and Virgie (Ronald) Jones.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 siblings; Elizabeth Marko, Hershel Mullins, and Jay Mullins.

Shirley was a homemaker, staying home to raise her 2 daughters. She loved to cook, and she especially loved to spend time with her entire family. Shirley was a very compassionate person who loved to care for others and spent much of her time caring for her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed reading her Bible and watching her Christian TV programs. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Rev. Jim Stauffer. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.

Visitations will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
