Ruth M Swartz

Ruth M. Swartz, age 82, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Manor at Greendale in Findlay, Ohio.

Ruth was born on December 17, 1940, in Carey, Ohio, to William and Bernice (Jenot) Lear. She was once married to Cloyd Swartz, and he is deceased.

She is survived by her children: Samuel (Kay) Swartz of Upper Sandusky, Steve (Penny) Swartz of Upper Sandusky, Cindy (Pam) Swartz of Marion, Tony (Dee) Swartz of Findlay, Suzanne (Greg Tackett) Swartz of Upper Sandusky, Sheila (Mark) Stuckert of Forest, Amy (Mike) Stone of Upper Sandusky, Andrew (Tracy) Swartz of Findlay. 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.

Ruth is also survived by 3 brothers, Robert (Nola) Lear of Arlington, Clarence (Becky) Lear of Upper Sandusky, and Charles (Margie) Lear of Upper Sandusky, along with 2 sisters, Patricia Paugh of Carey, and Virginia Walter of Upper Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Swartz, daughter Rose Swartz, and a brother, James.

Ruth retired as a nurse's aide, having worked for many years at the former Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, and then Fairhaven, both in Upper Sandusky.

She was a member for many years at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky.

For hobbies, Ruth enjoyed bingo, reading, playing cards, and board games.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother.

A funeral mass for Ruth M. Swartz will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Transfiguration of the Lord in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Conrad Sutter, OFM Conv, and Deacon Kevin Winterstellar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, August 8, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
