Ruth H. Gerber of rural Nevada, Ohio died Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:15am at Fairhaven North in Upper Sandusky, Ohio at the age of 93.

She was born on August 4, 1914 in Wyandot County to Christopher and Maud Starner Klinger. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1933, where she played basketball on the girls team.

On April 21, 1935 Ruth married John Gerber in Upper Sandusky and he died October 27, 1989.

Surviving are 3 children, Richard and his wife Phyllis, Gerber of Nevada, Marie and her husband Lary, Ekleberry of Nevada and Joanne and her husband Marwan, El-Nasser of Fredonia, New York. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Steve Ekleberry, Brian Gerber, Michele Gucker, Farris El-Nasser, Shannon Klepper, Omar El-Nasser and Alex El-Nasser. Ruth
also had 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Joyce Gerber who died in infancy, a great granddaughter, Jessie Marie Ekleberry and 2 sisters, Helen Bell and Grace Reed.

Ruth was a homemaker and helped her husband John on the family farm During Ruth's early years, she worked for the Nevada Bell Telephone Company as an operator, where she earned 10 cents an hour.

Ruth was a member for over 70 years of Emanuel United Church of Christ in rural Upper Sandusky. She was active in the church as a Sunday
School Superitendent for the children's department and having served on
many committees within the church. She was also a member of the Women's Guild. She was a former member of the Pythian Sister's in Nevada where she served as treasurer and former Farm Bureau member.

Funeral services for Ruth H. Gerber will be private. The Rev.'s Martin L. Stiffler and Cathy Wirth will be conducting the services. Burial will
be in Nevada Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel U.C.C. or the Jessie M. Ekleberry Memorial Scholarship Fund and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
