Russell C. Moser, age 78, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
Russell was born on January 21, 1944, in Hoytville, Ohio, to Frank R. and Doris E. (Swerline) Moser, both of whom are deceased. He married Martha E. Leatherman in the Hoytville United Methodist Church and she survives.
He is survived by sons, Michael E. (Krista) Moser of Milan, Ohio, and Matthew E. (Angela) Moser of Upper Sandusky, and a daughter, Rhonda C. Morris of Marion. 13 grandchildren, Kaley Moser, Dena Moser, Private Nicholas Schilling, River Moser, Joshua (Lacey) Moser, Allison (Bryce) Lonsway, Arianna Moser, Aubri Moser, Lauren Moser, Gabriel Moser, Benjamin Morris, Henry Morris, and Lucas Morris, along with 2 great grandchildren, Aiden Frost, Everly Moser, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steven Morris, his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Ella (Dunn) Leatherman, 2 brothers, Robert and Frank Jr., and 3 sisters, Dorothy Shuck, Betty Smith, and Elaine Meyer.
Russell was involved with law enforcement for over 50 years, having started as a part-time dispatcher with the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office in 1985, and also with the Sheriff's Auxiliary, where he currently was serving as treasurer. He also had worked in the past as the manager for Wyandot Tractor, Bowen Implement, Country Star Co-op, and lately with Alloway in Marion with his daughter Rhonda.
He was a member of the Union-Salem United Methodist Church and of the Buckeye State Sheriff Association.
Russell never met a stranger, and always looked forward to going to Florida every year and driving his golf cart around for his daily inspections.
He will be remembered for his love for family, especially his grandchildren, whom he enjoyed taking various places. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Russell Moser will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 24, 2022, (The service has been moved to Saturday due to a Level 3 Snow Emergency) at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, December 22, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
