Russell H. Kear, Jr., age 75, of The Villages, Florida, and formerly of Findlay, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in the Emergency Room of the Villages Regional Hospital.
Russell was born on August 25, 1938 in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Russell H. Sr., and Marcella (Corneley) Kear. He married Mary Smith on August 19, 1961 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky and she survives.
He is survived by two children Jennifer Kear (Brian) Street of Cumming, Georgia, and Andrew Russell (Tiffany Lowery) Kear of Wharton, Ohio. Along with eight grandchildren, Riley Street, Caleb Kear, Davis Street, Ian Kear, Braden Kear, Garrett Street, Nickey Lowery, and Mackenzie Lowery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Matthew, and a sister Kathleen Larcomb.
Russell was a retired attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, having worked out of the Toledo office for many years. He also had a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had worked for Lincoln Mercury, National Machinery and spent a year with NASA in their early years with the space program.
He was a 1956 graduate of the Upper Sandusky High School and went on to The Ohio State University to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor Degree from The Ohio State School of Law.
Russell enjoyed following OSU sports, and also watching baseball. He also always had a passion for farming that never left him, since he grew up on the family farm in Wharton. His greatest love though was his wife, children and grandchildren and his friends, both old and new. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Russell H. Kear, Jr. will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 12, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at Wharton, Richland Union Cemetery, Wharton, Ohio.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, May 11, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Food Pantry in Upper Sandusky, or a charity of the donor's choice and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH., 43351.
