Russell F. "Bud" Duress, age 80, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:14am in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
He was born on April 14, 1930 in Irvington, New Jersey to Winthrop and Althea (Rau) Duress, both of whom are deceased.
Russell was married for 61 years to Mabel Ann "Mae" Hunt who survives in Upper Sandusky.
He is also survived by 3 children, John (Debra) Duress of Upper Sandusky, Pamela (Richard) Binau of Fremont, Scott (Jaime) Duress of Upper Sandusky. 7 Grandchildren, Brian (Janelle Blue) Duress, Katie Duress, Sara (Brian) Celek, Erin (Calvin Murray, Jr., and Joel, Adam and Sam Duress, along with 6 great grandchildren.
Russell is also survived by 2 sisters Maureen (Stanley) Anderson of Grass Valley, California and Judith Manley of South Pomfret, Vermont, and 2 sisters in law, Nancy Duress of Tyler, Texas and Jean Scott of Guilford, Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John W. Duress, and his uncle and aunt Paul and Margaret Keating.
Russell retired after 30 years as the owner and operator of The
American Wedge Company in Vanlue, Ohio. He was a graduate of Guilford Connecticut Senior High School Class of 1948, after spending the majority of his youth in Brattleboro Vermont. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy.
He was a former member of the Guilford Lions Club and a
former volunteer fireman with the Guilford Fire Department.
Russell loved music and playing the piano having been gifted the ability to play by ear. He loved being on the water and
boating in Apple Valley, Ohio where he went after retirement for 12 years. He enjoyed playing games, cards and ping pong
with his grandchildren.
The Family of Russell F. "Bud" Duress will receive family and friends on Friday, July 2, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
A graveside service will be private and held at a later date. It
was Bud's wish that his body would be cremated.
