Roxy Ann Swihart passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024. Born in Marion, Ohio on November 4, 1937, to Alfred and Betty (Willmeth) Whittington, she was a 1955 graduate of Marion Harding High School. She married Larry Swihart on April 22, 1956, and moved to the Upper Sandusky area.
After graduation, Roxy worked for Muphy's in Marion, Timken Roller Bearing in Bucyrus for 18 years, prior to moving to Orchard Park, NY where she worked with an insurance agency. Upon returning to Upper Sandusky, Roxy worked for the Wyandot County Juvenile Court then Perry Corporation, in Marion until she retired. Roxy and Larry were also co-owners and operators of The Trading Post in Upper Sandusky.
Roxy enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards with friends. Larry and Roxy enjoyed taking many trips together to Las Vegas and Florida. She relished time spent with her children and their families, as well as time at their house at Lake Erie, boating and water skiing in her younger years. She enjoyed feeding the birds and deer in her backyard and caring for their cats, Tommy and Lily.
Roxy was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ, in Upper Sandusky, a member of the Elks BPOE #83 and served as president of the Emblem Club. After retiring she volunteered with the Hospital Guild and was a shopping volunteer at Fairhaven Home.
Roxy is survived by her husband Larry, of 67 years; children Marla (Bernie) Himmeger of Marblehead, Brenda Meyer of Greencastle, IN and Beth (James) Thomas of Findlay; Grandchildren Rachel (Dennis) Hockingberry, David Himmeger, Madison Meyer, Mallary Meyer, Jacob Meyer, and Jordan Meyer; Great grandchildren Mason and Alexa Hockingberry. Siblings Beverly (Gary) Cullenen, Oak Harbor, Roberta (Art) Walker and Jodi (Tim) Mackey both of Port Clinton. Also, many nieces and nephews and sister in-laws Emily and Susan Swihart.
Roxy was preceded in death by her parents, son in-law, Michael Meyer and granddaughter, Mackenzie Meyer.
A celebration of life service for Roxy Swihart will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating.
Visitations will be held 2 hours before the service, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Saturday at Lucas Batton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, the Alzheimer's Association or the Wyandot County Humane Society, and can be sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
