Ronald L. "Farmer" Newell

Ronald L. "Farmer" Newell, 59, of Upper Sandusky, OH., died at 3:04 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 in the emergency room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in
Upper Sandusky.

He was born in Bucyrus, OH. on November 3, 1949 to Russell D. and Martha J. (Gottfried) Newell. They preceded him in death. He Married Debra J. Baker and they divorced. He later married Sharon R. Nachbar on January 25, 1997 and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Also survivng are a son, Douglas (Lorrie) Newell of Upper Sandusky, a daughter, Rhonda (Monte) Horton of Warren, two sisters, Beverly S. Batton and Bonnie (Thomas) Menningen both of Upper Sandusky, four grandchildren, Alexandra and Samantha Newell and Rachael and Evan Horton and many nieces and nephews.

A sister Betty A. Walton preceded him in death.

Ron was a lifelong farmer and also worked at Olen Corp. (formerly McCarthy Quarry) in Upper Sandusky for the past 19 years.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wyandot County Sheriff's Auxillary for the past 27 years, past president of Wyandot County Farm Bureau, Elks #83, Moose Lodge #1093, American Legion #225, AMVETS #777, and Eagles Aerie #2184 all of Upper Sandusky.

Ron enjoyed camping, gardening, animals, and attending sporting events.

Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, where an Elk's memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, with Pastor Andrea Starn officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
