Ronald Gene Ratliff, age 70, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Vancrest of Upper Sandusky, after two hard fought battles with Cancer.

Ron was born on April 22, 1954 in Kenton, Ohio, to Kenneth and Mary (Brewer) Ratliff.  He married Janet Trautwein on June 7, 1975 at the Trautwein Family Farm and she survives.

He is also survived by his two daughters, April (Brian) McCreary of Upper Sandusky, and Kristy (Rob) Castle of Upper Sandusky, as well as, 3 granddaughters, Raegan (Bridget) Wagner, Renee McCreary, and Rylee McCreary, all of Upper Sandusky.

Ron is also survived by his sister, Nancy Brady of Palm Coast, Florida, and brothers, Tom (Karen) Ratliff of Findlay, Larry Joe (Bonnie) Ratliff of Upper Sandusky, Fred (Chantell) Ratliff of Upper Sandusky, Rick (Nora) Ratliff of Mansfield.  Along with his sister in laws, Nancy O'Neill of Upper Sandusky, Ruth (John) Vogel of Upper Sandusky, and brother in law, Larry (Diane) Trautwein of Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lonnie Ratliff, his father and mother in law, Leon and Alice Trautwein, brother in law, Bill Brady, and sister in law, Barb Broseus.

Ron was a 1973 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, and went on to work for Guardian Industries in Upper Sandusky for 42 years.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky.

Ron loved sports, and in his early years participated in intramural basketball, to later years, coaching Little League baseball with his brother in law, Larry, to coaching his own daughter and granddaughter, in Slow Pitch Girls softball. His daughter, Kristy, fondly remembers the countless hours spent practicing with her father, which created a very special bond between them.

Always one to keep busy, he enjoyed bowling and participated in the Church league, Classic league and Buckeye league, and was known to just enjoy shooting hoops with his kids and grandkids at the house, and taking his daily walk with wife Janet, and his 4 legged friend, Stella.

Ron was an avid OSU fan, along with The Cincinnati Reds, The Cleveland Browns, and The Lady Rams. Ron enjoyed going to many sporting events throughout the years with his son-in-law, Brian.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends of Ron will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

The family would like casual attire for the visitation and feel free to wear a shirt from your favorite sports team.
