Romaine I. Whitt, age 92, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Manor of Greendale, Findlay, Ohio.
Romaine was born on November 5, 1932, in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Karl F. and Grace F. (Swartz) Lodge.
She is survived by her children: Jan Kear, Dan Whitt, Jo (Al Kessler) Brodman, Ruth (Chuck) Bell, and Brenda Davidson. 10 grandchildren: Robin, Marie, Annie, Beth, DeJay, Devin, C.J., Alex, Tim, and Tiffany, along with 9 great grandchildren.
Romaine was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Karl, brothers, Wayne, Vernon, and Henry Lodge, and a sister, Ida Mae Brown, along with her special friend, Jim Schwilk, and her son-in-law Bill (Jan) Kear.
She was a 1951 graduate of Harpster High School and went on to work for over 30 years at the former Millington-Blackhawk in Upper Sandusky. She also worked at the Tasty Pastry in Upper Sandusky.
Romaine was a member of the Harpster Methodist Church where she was active with various church activities. She also was a volunteer with the Wyandot Council on Aging.
For hobbies, she enjoyed playing cards, especially Canasta, traveling, eating ribs at New Riegel, and getting together with family, friends, and classmates. For many years, Romaine and Jim would have a family and friends party at their home in Harpster.
A celebration of life service for Romaine will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 16, at the Harpster United Methodist Church, with Rev. Todd Noland officiating. Immediately after the service, there will be a visitation time for family and friends in the lower level of the Harpster Church
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Council of Aging and may be sent to Lucas Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
