Roger A. Washburn, 62, of Bellevue and formerly of Morral, OH. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Bellevue.

He was born in Marion, OH. on September 3, 1948 to Clarence and Elizabeth "Betty" (Hughes) Washburn. His mother survives in Morral, OH. On June 1, 1979, he married Nancy Thompson in Bellevue at the Bellevue Assembly of God and she survives in Bellevue.

Also surviving is a son, Scott (Darcy) Washburn of Upper Sandusky, two daughters; Erica Washburn and Amy Washburn both of Bellevue, daughter in-law; Krista Washburn of Norwalk, five grandchildren; Cassie Shuff of Tiffin, Trey Washburn of Upper Sandusky, Isaiah Washburn of Upper Sandusky, Ethan Washburn of Norwalk, and Cory Washburn of Upper Sandusky, two brothers; Gary (Cathy) Washburn of Upper Sandusky and Steve (Vicki) Washburn of Harpster.

Preceding him in death were his father, Clarence Washburn and a son, Cory Washburn.

He was a 1966 graduate of Ridgedale High School and 1969 graduate of Ohio Northern University. After graduation, he taught junior high music for several years. His passion for music and performing arts grew as he accompanied and directed many musicals throughout the years. He was a former member of the Bellevue Society of the Arts and current drama director at Bellevue Junior High School, as well as an instructor of voice and piano. He was an E.R.P. Analyst with Revere Plastics in Clyde, OH. He was also a regular attendee of The Chapel in Sandusky, OH. While living in the Morral area, he served on the Ridgedale High School Board of Education (past President), was a member of the Marion Kiwanis Club, and volunteered on the Salt Rock Township Fire Department. He served his country with the U.S. Army Reserve for 10 years.

He was a NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fanatic and a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He had a passion for giving to others, and he was a major donor for the Red Cross Blood Drive. He also loved spending time with his wife and family. Watching his children and grandchildren perform in school functions, sports, and programs were his true joys in life.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. October 6, 2010 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Craig Thompson officiating and a good friend, Dan Higgins, speaking.

Family and friends will be received from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Homes in Upper Sandusky, OH.

Memorial contributions may be given to Salt Rock Fire Dept., Bellevue Society of the Arts, or Gideons International in care of the funeral home.
