Robert H. Westerman

Robert H. Westerman, age 91, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2:15AM at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

Bob was born on February 28, 1921 in Rogers City, Michigan to Harry L. and Matilda (Rusch) Westerman, both of whom are deceased. He married Edna Traxler on March 24, 1943 in Upper Sandusky and she survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Larry (Joanne) Westerman and Rick Westerman both of Upper Sandusky and 3 grandchildren, David (Lisa) Westerman of Chugiak, Alaska, Sheri (Scott) Gatchell of Carey, and Scott (Heidi) Westerman of Hilliard. 6 great grandchildren surviving are Josh, Jimmy Westerman and Erika DeLapp, Hayes and Megan Gatchell and Luke Westerman.

Bob is also survived by 4 brothers, Donald of Upper Sandusky, Harley of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, Harold of Westerville and James of Evansville, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a brother Norman.

Bob had spent most of his lifetime in Wyandot County, Upper Sandusky, where he worked for the following companies, Pfeifer Sales and Service for 30 years, Harbor Motor Sales for 6 years, ODOT for 5 years and finished out his working career with Uni-Grip for 17 years.

He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army having served in Australia, Philippines and Japan thus receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Star, American Theater Ribbon and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Bob was a member of Trinity Evangelical Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky for over 65 years. And for hobbies he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and tinkering in his garage.
He will be remembered for his love of his family and his acts of service to others, such as helping those in the neighborhood.

Funeral services for Robert H. Westerman will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, January 14, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery

Visitations will be held 2 hours prior to service time on Monday, from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
