Robert L. Sloat, age 75, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died July 26, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born on September 10, 1931 in Marion, Ohio to Cedric and Helen (Schertzer) Sloat, both of whom are deceased. He married Ida Marie Arnold on December 18, 1954 in Liberty, Indiana and she survives. Surviving are 2 daughters, LeAnne Lehnhart of Nevada, Ohio and AnnaLe Sloat of Burbank, California, and a son Matthew Lee Sloat of Plain City, Ohio. Three grandchildren survive, William Lehnhart, Anna Marie Lehnhart and Ella Sloat. Also surviving is a sister Wilma Roszman of Marion, Ohio.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Paul and Carl Sloat and 1 sister Mary Isabelle Gilmore.

Bob graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1949 and then went into the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War. After the service Bob went to school to become a certified electrician and worked for the former Strasser's Electric in Upper Sandusky and various jobs through his union shop, #688 IBEW in Mansfield, Ohio, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club; the Marion Moose Lodge and a life member of the AMVETS Post 777 in Upper Sandusky. In his retirement Bob has helped out for the last 7 years with the Fantasy of Light Christmas Light Display at Harrison Smith Park. He also enjoyed working on antique cars, especially his 1932 Essex.

Those that where close to Bob knew that he loved to laugh and see others laugh with him by telling a good joke. He loved life and those closest to him, his wife, their family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30am Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Rev. Norman Folk will be the officiating the service on Saturday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club and or The Fantasy of Lights and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
