Robert Eugene Saul Sr

Robert Eugene Saul Sr. age 83, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 at at Fairhaven Retirement and Healthcare Community in Upper Sandusky.

He was born on December 7, 1927 in Preble County, Ohio to Josephus C. and Margie L. (Sink) Saul, both of whom are deceased.

Robert leaves behind his loving wife Juanita A. Lindsey of 36 years. He also previously was married to the former Marlene Putterbaugh .

Surviving are 2 sons, Robert E. (Susan) Saul, Jr. of Sugar Creek Township, Ohio, Daryl H. Saul of Boulder, Colorado and a daughter, Stacie A. (Bret) Allen of Republic, Missouri and 2 step daughters Linda S. (Allan) Coleman of Dayton, Ohio and Robin (Steve) Adkins of Upper Sandusky. 9 grandchildren, Andrea and Beau Allen, Tyler and Jenna Saul, Ryan and Megan Myers, Melissa Gallant, Joshua Schwenning, Brandon Coleman and 4 great grandchildren, Jensyn Fredritz, and Jackson, Jostyn, Zandria Gallant.

He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers and their wives, Floyd and Bernice Saul and Dale and Glenna Saul and 3 sisters and their husbands, Florence and Virgil Cullers, Betty and Richard Wysong, and Myrna and Warren Gaines.

Robert was a banker having served in the following banking businesses, Peoples Bank, Dayton 1st. National Bank, Dayton Citizens First Bank in Bellbrook, Ohio, Chartered Bellbrook Community Bank, Harpster Bank in Harpster, and The Commercial Savings Bank in Upper Sandusky, where he retired.

Robert was a veteran having served our country in 1944 to 1946 with the Merchant Marines and 1946 to 1948 with the US Navy.

He was a former member of the Bellbrook Lions Club, where he served as president. He was the founder and past president of the Bellbrook Business Association, and was former member of the Belmont United Methodist church.

For hobbies Robert took great pride in woodworking and homebuilding, restoring Mustangs, snow skiing and working in the yard.

A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held at 2:00pm April 27 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Mary Curtis officiating.
Family will receive family and friends after the service at the funeral home.
