Robert J. Niederkohr, age 69, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his home in Upper Sandusky.
Bob was born on February 9, 1952 in Upper Sandusky to Albert and Mary (McDannel) Niederkohr. He is survived by his love and wife of 45 years, Elaine Orians, and they were married on November 5, 1976 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem Township.
He is also survived by his five children: Keith (Deena) Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky,Douglas (Kevin) Niederkohr of Hilliard, Rondi (Jake) Littlejohn of Troy, Ross (Rachel)Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky, and Kail (Tara) Niederkohr of Hilliard. Twelve grandchildren, Addison, Kinsley, and Abram Niederkohr, William Niederkohr, Lincoln,Gabe and Zack Littlejohn, Jack, Mary, and Annie Niederkohr, and Charlie and Lucy Niederkohr.
Bob is also survived by a sister, Reva (Tom) Smith of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, two brothers, Larry (Patty) Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky, Mark (Margie) Niederkohr of Dayton, and sister-in-law, Tami Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky, many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Woodrow and Irene Orians, a brother, Kenneth "Monk" Niederkohr, and a sister-in-law, Donna Stark.
Bob was a 1970 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and started working for his
father, Albert, with Niederkohr Brothers around the age of 16. He continued working with the family construction business, eventually becoming Niederkohr Construction. In 1992, he re-formed Niederkohr Brothers with his two brothers, Larry and Ken. They continued doing business in the community for many years. In recent years, Bob also worked for CSI until his recent retirement.
He was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #2050, where he served as a former Grand Knight. Bob was also a charter member of Wyandot Classic Cruisers. Bob was also proud to be the favorite son-in-law of Irene Orians.
Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing, following the Buckeyes, mushroom hunting, and his Ford Mustangs. Bob loved following and watching his children and grandchildren in many athletics. He also enjoyed music and playing his drums, of which he did with various bands through the years, with the most recent being "Pastime".
He was most proud of his five children and his 12 grandchildren that will carry on his legacy.
A memorial service for Robert J. Niederkohr will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Deacon Kevin Winterstellar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitations will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
