Robert Joseph "Joe" Denman, age 85, of rural Harpster, Ohio, passed away
Thursday, November 7, 2013 at his home.

Joe was born on April 30, 1928 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to George and Helen (Griffith) Denman, both of whom are deceased. He married Joan M. Lowry on July 3, 1954 at the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, and she passed November 8, 2009.

Surviving is a daughter, Anne Denman of Upper Sandusky, daughter in law, Linda Denman of Oak Harbor, Ohio. Along with 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) Denman of Bowling Green, Benjamin (Maritza) Denman of Key West, Florida, and Adrienne Johnson of Athens, Ohio, and 4 great grandchildren David, Emma, Meridian, and Willow Denman. And a sister in law, Lois Denman of St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his son David Denman, a brother, Thomas Denman, and a sister, Kathleen Fisher.

Joe was retired supervisor at the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Upper Sandusky.

He was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School Class of 1947, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Joe was a long time member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. He was a life member and past exalted ruler of BPOE #83 in Upper Sandusky, and a member of the following organizations, Moose Lodge 1093, Amvets 777, American Legion Post #225, all in Upper Sandusky. And the VFW Post 7572 in Marblehead and the VFW Post #7201 in Marion.

Joe and wife Joan, enjoyed spending their summers together at Bay Point in Marblehead and their winters in Palm Shores, Florida. And for hobbies he enjoyed golfing, watching westerns and John Wayne movies, and was an avid OSU Buckeye fan.


Graveside services for Robert J. "Joe" Denman will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, in Upper Sandusky. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Visitations will be held on Friday, November 15, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, where an Elks Memorial Service to be held at 8:00pm. The family would prefer the attire
for the calling hours to be casual wear, especially OSU themed.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Upper Sandusky Rams Athletic Boosters and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH, 43351.
