Robert "Bob" D. Thomas, age 83, of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 5:25am at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Bob was born on August 18, 1930 in Delaware, Ohio, to Philo and Inez (Sparrow) Thomas, both of whom are deceased. He was raised by the late Espie and Vera Wade, who lived
in Harpster.
He married Marilyn Myers on November 15, 1952 at her parent's home in Harpster, and she survives.
Bob is survived by 6 children, Denny (Linda) Thomas of Harpster, Debbie Thomas of Upper Sandusky, Brad(Donna) Thomas of Harpster, Brandon (Darla) Thomas of Upper Sandusky, Karen (Philip) Anderson of Harpster and Brenda Thomas of Upper Sandusky. Along with 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother Maurice (Collene) Thomas of Honor, Michigan and 2 sisters, Jan Rebardo of Columbus, Ohio, and Martha Foreste of Blanchester, Ohio.
Bob was preceded in death by a son Kevin Thomas and a grandson.
Bob was the custodian for many years with the Harpster Elementary School. He also served on the Pitt Township Fire Department for 50 years and was the fire chief for many years.
He served at a Pitt Township Trustee and also on the council for the Village of Harpster. He was a member of the Harpster United Methodist Church.
For hobbies, Bob enjoyed looking for arrowheads, fishing, hunting for mushrooms, and he enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes.
A memorial service honoring the life of Robert D. Thomas will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. So Hea Park officiating. Burial will follow at Little Sandusky Cemetery.
Visitations will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
It is the request of the family that your attire during the visitation be one of casual dress and Buckeye attire.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pitt Twp. Fire Department or Hospice of Wyandot County and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
