Robert Keith Brandt, 87, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2014 in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Mr. Brandt was born Feb. 15, 1927 in Chicago, IL, to Joseph Christian Brandt and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Brandt. An only child, Mr. Brandt attended Garfield School in Maywood IL. Where he played violin in the orchestra and was a crossing guard. He graduated from Nevada High School Nevada, OH in 1944 where he was active in FFA and was class president.

Mr. Brandt married Gertrude M. Youmans Oct. 20, 1944 in Cardington, Ohio. She and their son James Andrew Brandt preceded him in death.

Mr. Brandt is survived by two children, Stephen (Barbara) Brandt of Beaver Dam, WI, and Sylvia (Terry) Crall of Bucyrus OH; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Evan) Maughan Colorado Springs CO, Matthew (Christine) Crall Bucyrus OH, Henry (Crystal) Crall Deleware OH, David (Alaina) Crall Bucyrus OH, Pamela Eilbes Madison WI, and Michael (Amy) Brandt West Port WI; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A WWII veteran, Mr. Brandt's Combat Engineer unit built causeways into the war time harbor that later served as Tokyo International Airport. When Mr. Brandt returned from the army, he completed his degree in poultry science at Ohio State in 1950.

He worked 27 years with Farm Journal Magazine retiring age 60 as the national manager of country sales, merchant plan division.

Mr. Brandt belonged to the Nevada American Legion, the Ohio Gourd Society, and the American Gourd Society. He enjoyed growing things, camping, fishing, photography, and his winters in Rockport TX.

A memorial service for Robert Keith Brandt will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bucyrus.

Visitations will be held 1 hour prior to service time, 10:00am to 11:00am at the church on Saturday.
