Richard J. Micheli

Richard J. Micheli, age 74, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 6:50pm at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

He was born on February 22, 1937 in Willshire, Ohio to Angelo J. and Etta A. (Williamson) Micheli, both of whom are deceased.

Dick married Kay Jackson on June 30, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion, Ohio and she survives.

Also surviving are 4 children, Rita C. and her husband Charles Sherman of Kissimmee, Florida, Pamela R. and her husband Thomas Pagnard of Upper Sandusky, Steven B. and his wife Suzanne (Derr) Micheli of Powell, Ohio, and R. Mark and his wife Sandra (Reile) Micheli of Upper Sandusky. 13 granchildren, Aaron, Sara, Ryan, Jeanette, Kathryn and her fiancAC. Mitchell Rall, Julia and her husband Jason Lemire, Eric and his wife Danielle Shumaker, Jaclyn and her fiancAC. Jason Womble, Jenna, Kevin, Aubrey, Angela and Gregory and 6 great grandchildren, Kayla, Christopher, Carrie, Alexander, Grant and Madilyn. Along with a sister Mary Martha (Robert) Simmons of Marion.

He was preceded in death by a brother Roger.

Dick's professional career started in banking having worked for the former City Loan in Marion and then transferring to Upper Sandusky office. He then worked for 1st. Citizens National Bank in Upper Sandusky before taking a position with People's Bank in Carey, Ohio. He was also the office manager for many years with Micheli Corp before taking a position with A.O. Smith - Electrical Division, in Tipp City, of which he retired from in 2000.

Dick was a member of the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky and being a person who was very civic minded was involved with many organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Sandusky where he had served as president, and also the Jaycees. He was a former member of the BPOE # 83 in Upper Sandusky and the Knights of Columbus, where he had served as a Grand Knight of the Carey Council .

For hobbies Dick was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. Micheli will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, May 3 at the Transfiguration of the Lord in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Monday, May 2, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with a Catholic Prayer Service to be held at 3:30pm on Monday at the funeral home prior to the visitation.
