Rebecca K. (Hurst) Smith

Rebecca K. Smith, age 48, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away at 8:51 AM on Friday, January 21, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Marion, Ohio.

Rebecca was born in Bucyrus, on June 8, 1973, to Ray G. and Carlon (Stone) Hurst and they preceded her in death. Rebecca was once married to Elwood Smith and he survives.

Rebecca is also survived by her son Joseph Smith of Nevada, 2 daughters: Alainna Smith of Bucyrus, and Emily (Damian Goetz) of Upper Sandusky, 4 grandchildren: Kelton Buckley, Deklan Buckley, Anniala Goetz, and Matilda Goetz. She is also survived by her siblings: Tony (Kim) Stapleton of Blanchester, Patricia Stone of Bucyrus, Lynda (Doug) Cole of Bucyrus, Mike Hurst of Nevada, Ginny Cole of Nevada, Tim (Annette) Hurst of Bucyrus, Missy (Shawn Green) King of Bucyrus, Rodney Hurst of Nevada, Tina (Justin) Hurst of Delaware, Randy Hurst of Nevada, and Lacey (John) Massey of Nevada.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Kenneth, Glenn and Lynn Hurst, and her brother in law Tom Cole.

Rebecca graduated from Wynford High School in 1991 and went on to work as a Nursing Assistant at the Wyandot County Home.

She attended the Heritage Baptist Church in Upper Sandusky where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed knitting and quilting when she was able, going shopping, and getting her nails done with her sister.

A funeral service for Rebecca K. Smith will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Rev. Carl Angel. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.

Visitations will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the funeral home.
