Raymond C. Butcher Jr

Raymond C. Butcher Jr. , age 74, of rural Upper Sandusky and formerly of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away on Sunday Morning, April 24, 2011 at his home.

Ray was born on December 3, 1936 in Vinton County, Ohio to Raymond C. Sr. and Dorothy M. (Roof) Butcher, both of whom are deceased.

He married Marna Collins on February 14, 1959 in McArthur, Ohio and she survives.

Also surviving are 3 children, Cathy (Celia) Butcher of Columbus, Lisa (Doug) Beach of Upper Sandusky, Jeffrey ( Andrea) Butcher of Marengo, Ohio. Along with 4 grandchildren, Lisa Marie Butcher, Jeanette Butcher, Jacob Beach and Karly Beach.

Ray is also survived by 3 brothers, Duane Butcher of Belton, South Carolina, Roger Butcher of Wellston, Ohio and Ronald Butcher of Wilkesbille, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard.

Ray was a Air Traffic Controller having retired in 1988 from Port Columbus after 30 years of service.

A 1954 graduate of Wilton South High School in Wilkesbille, Ohio he went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. For hobbies, Ray loved playing all sports and enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds. He believed in a putting in a good day's work and his family was very important to him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00pm Thursday, April 28 in the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
