Philip E. Walton

August 6, 1941 — June 9, 2025

Upper Sandusky

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Philip Elmer Walton on June 9, 2025, at the age of 83 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.  He lived a life fully dedicated to his family.

He leaves behind his wife Michele (Martin), which he married on May 29, 1964, at the First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Charles Steward.  Together they raised 3 daughters; Elaine (Brian) Tschanen, Melissa (Jon) Zimmerman, and Dawn (Earl) Kidwell, 6 grandchildren; Jason Zimmerman, Zachary Zimmerman, Seth Tschanen, Logan Tschanen, MacKenzie Kidwell, & Eli Kidwell, and 7 great grandchildren.  He had many more family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Leslie Rae Walton, parents, Daniel & Agnes Walton, and siblings, Lucille Lambert, Lewis Walton, Lois McCracken, Delbert Walton and Joseph Walton.

Phil graduated from Wharton High School in 1959 and went on to serve in the Army National Guard.  He retired from Westing House/A.O. Smith after 32 years as an electrical engineer.  He was a 3rd generation farmer for all of his life.  He raised hogs and crops and could fix most anything.  Through the years his farm never turned down a stray because of his love for all animals.  He had almost every barnyard critter at one point or another.

Phil always put his family's needs above all else.  While raising his daughters he made sure to make time for them, whether it was playing softball in the front yard, a game of horse, flying kites, fishing, or teaching them to play Euchre, sometimes while wearing chore boots. He was an avid gardener with a green thumb.  He played on a church league softball team with all 3 of his daughters.  He loved to camp with friends and family where he told the stories of his orneriness from years past.  He was also well known to his family for having the patience of Job.

Visitations for Philip Walton will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.   Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 5:00pm on Sunday.  Graveside rites will be held at a later date for family and friends.
