Paul H. Strub, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:30am at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Paul was born on November 30, 1925 in Upper Sandusky to Otto and May (Heffelfinger) Strub, both of whom are deceased. He married Phyllis A. Wagner on December 28, 1947 in Upper Sandusky at the John Stewart United Methodist Church and she died on September 5, 2003.
He is survived by a daughter Sharon (Michael) Emerine of Cold Spring, Kentucky, and a son Tim (Martha) Strub of Dania Beach, Florida. Along with 3 grandchildren, Matthew Paul (Jacqueline) Emerine, Christopher Mark Emerine, and Theresa Ann Strub and 2 great grandchildren, Mathew Edward McNally and Maxton Paul Emerine.
Paul is also survived by 2 sisters, Ruth (Russ) Taylor of Upper Sandusky, and Carol Mooney of Upper Sandusky.
Paul graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1944 and went on to serve his country in the Army Air Force during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-24 having been on many missions in the Pacific Theater until the Japanese surrender and ultimately the end of the war.
Upon returning to home, Paul began his career with Claycraft Brick from 1948 to 1978, then moved on to Wyandot Dolomite from 1978 to 1990. He also owned and operated Strub Electric for many years.
Paul was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he served at one time as a trustee and on the finance committee. He also did a lot of the maintenance at the church and also at the church at Old Mission Cemetery.
He held life memberships in the BPOE #83 and the American Legion Post #225, both located in Upper Sandusky.
Paul enjoyed baking his sugar and raisin flat cookies by the dozens and sharing them with others. He will also be remembered for his generosity and his servant's heart as he was known to always help others with the many talents and gifts with which he was blessed.
Funeral services for Paul H. Strub will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitations will be held Tuesday, December 3, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
