Paul A. Stephan, age 91, of Wharton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his home. He was surrounded by the family who loved him so much.

Paul was born on June 28, 1931 in Richland Township, Wyandot County to Allen and Faye (Smith) Stephan, both of whom are deceased.  He married Ginny Culbertson on October 2, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and she passed away on January 18, 2019.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Ellen Stephan of California, Susan (William) Wyatt of Kansas, and Sarah (Stuart) Lohrum of Loveland, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, Joseph (Erin) Lohrum of Michigan, Mark (Sophia) Lohrum of Virginia, Rachael (Robert) Armstrong of New Hampshire, Marie Wyatt of New York, and Kelly (Brian) Buschelman of Alaska, along with 7 great grandchildren: Paul Lohrum, Samuel Lohrum, William Armstrong, Amelia Lohrum, Charlotte Armstrong, Hannah Lohrum, and Patrick Armstrong.

Paul is also survived by 2 sisters, Grace (John) Ulm of Cincinnati, and Ann (Donald) Suber of Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ginny, and a brother, Donald Stephan.

Paul was a 1949 graduate of Wharton High School and went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in agronomy from The Ohio State University. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force with the Strategic Air Command as a 1st Lieutenant.

After his service, Paul came back to the family farm to work with his father as part of A.T. Stephan & Sons, and later as Stephan Seeds.

He was a member of the Ohio Seed Dealers Association, Hardin County Board of Education, Kenton Elks #157, and the Hardin County Players, where he played a variety of acting roles as well as built many sets for their productions.

Paul will be remembered for his resourcefulness, in that he could fix and do almost anything that he set his mind to doing. As an avid reader from his youth, often reading more than 100 books per year, he was a regular patron of the Upper Sandusky Community Library.

His greatest love was his family; he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Paul A. Stephan will be private.
