Paul V. Lear

Paul V. Lear, age 86 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio
passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 2:30am
at the Wyandot County Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.

Paul was born on April 11, 1924 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to John W. and Margaret A. (Karg) Lear, both of whom are deceased. He was once married to Jacqueline Bender and they were divorced. He then married Lula Elizabeth Pence on April 24, 1970 and she died December 20, 1993.

Paul is survived by 2 sons, Paul Lear Jr. of Southern Wyoming and Scott (Wendy) Lear of Richmond, Virginia, a daughter Jacqueline (Ralph) Jerla, of Yellowstone Park, Wyoming, along with 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Betty Oney of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lear, 7 brothers George, William, Alfred, Ralph, Oliver, Walter and Dwight Lear and 3 sisters, Edna Lear, Violet Lear, Dorothy Redmond.

Paul worked as a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and also did construction. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Dunkirk where he did a lot of maintenance for the church.
He also was a member of the VFW in Dunkirk.

For hobbies Paul enjoyed following NASCAR, watching football and going to auctions.

Funeral services for Paul V. Lear will be held at 10:30am Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio with the Rev. Michael Oney Officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky where full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 6pm - 8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Wyandot County, The Activities Fund at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, or the American Cancer Society in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
