Orville Rhoden, age 73, of Nevada, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on August 30, 1937 in Nevada, Ohio to the late James Hager and Velma (Blankenship) Rhoden and had lived in the Nevada and Bucyrus area most of his life and graduated from Nevada High School in 1956.
Orville married Jane Rose in 1957 and they had four children. He then married Linda Auck on June 10, 1967 and they celebrated 34 years together until her death in 2002. He is survived by his companion, Carolyn (Hill) Shook of Bucyrus.
Also surviving is a son Deryll "Dick" Keatting of Nevada, a daughter Crystal Leitzy of Monnett, and two grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Leitzy of Bucyrus and Ashley Leitzy of Monnett. Orville is also survived by two sisters, Kate (Ernie) Hunsicker of Morral and Ramona (Chuck) Wurm of Bucyrus and a brother Glen (Carol) Rhoden of Virginia.
Also surviving are Carolyn's family, a daughter Lori Shook Keckler of Buena Vista, Virginia and grandchildren, Caleb, Kylan, Bryce, Brayden and Brendan.
He was preceded in death by a son Keith, a daughter Tammy Volkmer, grandson Jeremy Brown and a half sister Marcella (Rhoden) Verbarg and three brothers Bruce, Bill and Gene Rhoden.
Orville retired from Galion Iron/Komatsu after 30 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of Moose Lodge #303 in Galion and for hobbies
he enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting, gambling and classic cars.
Funeral Services for Orville Rhoden will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at 10:30am at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Bob Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky. Following graveside rites there will be a luncheon at the banquet room in the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
