Norman T. "Tom" Newman

Norman T. "Tom" Newman, age 62, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

He was born on July 4, 1950 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to William and Viola (Holmes) Newman, both of whom are deceased.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Jennifer Hughes of Shelby, Ohio and Julie (Don) Hiatt of Galion, Ohio. Along with 8 grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Brandon, Hannah, Megan, Kaylee, Tyler, Dylan, and 3 great grandchildren, Caden, Matthew, and James.

Tom is also survived by 3 brothers, Jim (Holly) Newman of Vera Beach, Florida, John (Jane) Newman of Galion, and Harold (Cindy) Newman of Morral, and 7 sisters, Hazel (Raymond) Morrow of Bucyrus, Ann Michener of Leviton, Pennsylvania,
Edie (Carl) Tenyck of Brandenton, Florida, Dottie Smith of Douglas, Wyoming, Pam (Tom) Bosley of Dunkirk, and Patti Mays of Upper Sandusky. And his special friend, Linda McLean of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Sadie Kirby and Loretta Fiegel.

Tom was a truck driver for Mid West Logistics in Columbus, having driven truck most of his life. He was a member of the Amvets Post 87 of Galion.

For hobbies he enjoyed going to casinos, NASCAR, especially his favorite racers, the late Dale Earnhardt and now his son Jr. Through the years, Tom enjoyed traveling and his dog, "Muffy".

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Burial will be held at a later date.
