Norma Jean Powers, 73, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Crawford County, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at 9:32pm at Fairhaven Retirement and
Healthcare Community in Upper Sandusky. Norma passed away as she was surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Norma was born on July 30, 1937 in Lewis County, Kentucky to Cecil and Edith (Knell) Brown, both of whom are deceased. She married Charles "Darry" Powers on March 11, 1957 and he died June 23, 1993.

Surviving are 2 children, Charles Marvin Powers of Shelby, Ohio and Pamela (Danny) Russell of Upper Sandusky along with 8 grandchildren, Sara Jane Powers, Mitchell Powers, Jacob Powers, Raymond Powers, Jesika Benavides, Brandy Powers, Quentin Howlett and Alan Harigle and 5 great grandchildren, Autumn, Lilly and Charlie Benavides, and Jordan and Aidan Powers.

She is also survived by her brothers, Marty Brown of Bucyrus, Ohio, Ray Brown, and Cecil Brown Jr. both of Lewis County, Kentucky, and sisters Anne Thomas, Betty Henderson, Imojean Stevenson-Gilbert, Ruth Smith, Violet Clark, Mary Brown all of Lewis County and Ellen Hill of Bucyrus.

Norma was a homemaker and at one time work for Galion Hospital in the Housekeeping Department where she worked for 15 years. For hobbies she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, quilting and most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

Funeral services for Norma Jean Powers will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, June 22 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Ervin Brown officiating. A luncheon at Lucas-Batton will follow immediately after the funeral service with the burial will taking place later in the day at 2:30pm at Fulton Cemetery, which is located in rural Mt. Gilead.

Visitations will be on Tuesday, June 21 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorials may be made to the Wetzel Memory Care Unit of Fairhaven Home and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH., 43
