Norma Jean Hardymon, 70, of Upper Sandusky, died at 4:46 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Mansfield Hospital, emergency room in Mansfield, Ohio.
Born April 28, 1944 in Lewis County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lullie (Smith) Cooley. She married Charles A. Hardymon on October 12, 1962 and he survives in Upper Sandusky.
She is also survived by two children: Connie S. (Daniel) Smith and Allen D. (Debie) Hardymon both of Upper Sandusky, 4 grandchildren: Brandon Smith, Marrissa Hardymon, Jacob Smith, and Cory Hardymon, and 4 sisters: Fairlene Steele of Bucyrus, Glenda Wilson of Vanceburg, KY, Erie Smith of Maysville, KY, Dorothy Applegate of Vanceburg, KY.
Preceding her in death were 4 brothers: Theodore, Raymond, Roscoe, and Ivan Cooley, and a sister, Betty Butler.
Known for her "green thumb", she loved gardening vegetable and flowers, cooking, camping, and collecting cow memorabilia.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Oceola.
Her life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 5 - 8 pm Monday, October 6, 2014 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Angel officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be given to Children's Hospital of Columbus in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH. 43351.
