Neva Jean Thornton, age 85, of Upper Sandusky, passed away at 8:35 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.
Neva was born on October 5, 1938, to Paul and Agnes (Traxler) Larick. She was married to John W. Thornton Sr. at the Methodist Church in Carey, on January 17, 1956, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2023.
Neva is survived by her children: John W. (Karla) Thornton Jr. of Foley, Alabama, James A. (Debra) Thornton of Upper Sandusky, Judinna M. (Donald) Rall of Upper Sandusky, and Jaleen S. (Fred) Geiser of Carey, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and her sister Sandra (Harold) Bosley of Morral.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, paternal grandparents Lewis and Bertha Larick, maternal grandparents Grover and Mame Traxler, and her brother Larry Larick.
Neva attended Upper Sandusky High School, was a waitress for The Village Restaurant for several years, worked as a private home health aide for several years, and then she worked at the Wyandot County Home for over 20 years until her retirement.
Neva was very artistic, she enjoyed painting and making crafts, and she was an avid OSU Football fan.
A funeral service for Neva Jean Thornton will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Barry Halter Jr., burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitations will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
