N. Eleanor Kimmell

N. Eleanor (Yantis) Kimmell, 80, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on January 26, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

She was born September 2, 1933 in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, to Raymond and Ruth (Bockey) Yantis, and has lived in this area her entire life. She attended Mt Blanchard High School, graduating in the class of 1951. In that same year, she married the one great love of her life, Gerald Kimmell, and they were married 19 years before he preceded her in death.

She is survived by their 4 children, Dianna (Gary) Koehler of Upper Sandusky, Jerry (Jane) Kimmell of Harrod, Ohio, Kathryn (Tom) Pfaff of Lorain, Ohio, and Michael (Cheryl) Kimmell of Mt. Blanchard. Grandchildren include Jason Koehler, Nicholas Kimmell, Rebecca Jones, Eric Pfaff, Allison Kraft, Michelle Cundiff, Markus Kimmell, Tom Riegle and Joshua Riegle and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by siblings Sharlene Smith, Rex Yantis, Neil Yantis and Gene Yantis

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson Brian Koehler, and a brother Max Yantis

Eleanor worked at Westinghouse/A.O.Smith for 32 years before retiring and moving from Wharton to Upper Sandusky. She was active at the Trinity Evangelical Church in Upper and enjoyed camping and the company of her large family and her faithful pets. She volunteered in hospice and area nursing homes to bring comfort to others.

Funeral services for Eleanor Kimmell will be held at 7:00pm Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Private graveside rites will be held at a later time.

Visitations will be held 3 hours prior to service time on Friday, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky or Wyandot County Hospice, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
