Myron A. Rife, Sr

Myron A. Rife Sr. age 78, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 9:25pm at his home in Upper Sandusky.

Myron was born on September 22, 1935, in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Harold T. and Helen (Hetzel) Rife, both of whom are deceased. He married Maxine M. Sammet on September 11, 1955 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

Myron is survived by a son, Myron A. "Bud" Rife, Jr., of Marion, Ohio, and 3 daughters, Teena M. (Frank Gibson Jr.) Rife of Upper Sandusky, Geena T. (Billy Lykins) Snow of Upper Sandusky, and Teresa K. (Tom) Price of Phoenix, Arizona. Along with 3 grandchildren, Brigitte R. Snow, Kayci Jo Snow and Ashley E. Price, a step granddaughter Celena Shearin and a step great granddaughter Kaylin Shearin.

He is also survived by a brother, Paul (Lois) Rife of Upper Sandusky, a sister, Kathleen (Gene) Walter of Carey, Ohio, and a good family friend, Brian Snow.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Frederick, Donald and Eugene Rife and 2 sisters, Neva Scheck and Wilma Lortz.

Myron worked at the former U.S. Commission Co for over 25 years as a assistant manager. He then worked for Walton Grain in Wharton and then retired as a manager at Kalmbach Feeds at their Adrian, Ohio, location.

He was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, where he served on council, as an usher, and also took part in the church softball league.

Myron was a life member of BPOE #83, where he served as treasurer at one time. And also was a past member of the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club in Upper Sandusky.

Myron was inducted in the Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Hall of Fame on September 12, 2008. He was known as "the bull" throughout his football career.

For hobbies, Myron enjoyed mowing, landscaping and gardening. He enjoyed taking time and talking with others, for he was a "people person" at heart.
Above all, he loved to spend time with his family and also watching his grandkids play sports and other school activities.

Funeral services for Myron A. Rife, Sr. will be held at 10:30am, Monday, June 9, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Joe Trester officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, June 8, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with an Elks Memorial Service to be held at 4:45pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
