Michael D. McQuown, age 79, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Michael was born on June 7, 1945 in Kenton, Ohio, to Richard and Fern (Wuethrich) McQuown, both of whom are deceased.  He married Sharon Sanderson on August 24, 1965, and she survives.

He is survived by 2 sons: Mark (Dawn) McQuown of Upper Sandusky, Matthew (Kristine) McQuown of Warsaw, Indiana.  7 grandchildren: Caylin (Sam) Quatromoni of Manhattan, New York, Jordan Nieto of Warsaw, Riley (Eric) Shafer of Delaware, Ohio, Seana (Cody) Francis of North Ridge, Ohio, Corey McQuown of Huntsville, Ohio, Delaney (Collin) Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lyndsey McQuown of Upper Sandusky, along with 4 great grandchildren, Airith and Arwen of North Ridge, Frances Quatromoni of Manhattan, and Daisy Shafer of Delaware.

Michael is also survived by 2 brothers, Jerry (Diana) McQuown of Richwood, Ohio, and Jeffrey (April) McQuown of Kenton.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard, Waland, and Rodney McQuown.

Michael was a 1963 graduate of Kenton High School, where he played basketball his junior and senior year, and winning the league his senior year.

Michael retired from Tiffin Metal Products in 2007, after 31 years, as a production control manager.  His first job was at United Aircraft Products in Forest, soon after graduating from high school.

He was a member of the Harpster United Methodist Church and a life member of the BPOE #83.

For hobbies, Michael enjoyed golfing, bowling, spending winters in Pompano Beach, Florida, coaching little league when the boys were young, and following them in later years as they played for the Rams in basketball and football.

His great love was family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, where he loved to spend time with them through the years. He was fondly known by the little ones as Grandpa Great.

Funeral services for Michael D. McQuown will be private, with burial taking place at Little Sandusky Cemetery.
