Merle E. Fox

Merle E. Fox, age 92, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of rural Nevada, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 4:22pm at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Merle was born on February 17, 1917 in Salem Township, Wyandot County, to Andrew and Ida (Henige) Fox, both of whom are deceased. He married Frances Marie Fadley on December 4, 1940 and she passed away on June 3, 2008.

He is survived by a son, Charles (Alberta) Fox of Salem, Kentucky, and a daughter, Carol Ann (Giles) Fox Logsdon of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Along with eight grandchildren,
Chris Logsdon of Pickerington, Ohio, Cynthia Roszman of LaRue, Ohio, Lisa Vaughn of Washington Court House, Shawn Logsdon of Phoenix, Arizona, Suzanne Logsdon of Tiffin, Ohio, Jeffrey Fox of Salem, Kentucky, Tim Fox of Chicago, Illinois, and Andrew Fox of Salem, Kentucky, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Two sisters also survive, Carola Tucker of Upper Sandusky and Martha Saul of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers Vincent and Russell Fox.

A life long resident of Wyandot County, Merle was a 2nd generation farmer. He was a former member of the St. Pius Catholic Church before transferring to Transfiguration of the Lord in Upper Sandusky. He was a member of the American Legion Post #225, a former trustee of BPOE #83 for 37 years, lifetime member of the K of C #2050 of Upper Sandusky, and a Eden Township Trustee for 28 years, and he also drove school bus for the Eden School. For hobbies, Merle enjoyed along with his wife, spending their winters in Florida for many years, playing pinochle and euchre.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The Rev. Robert Dendinger and Rev. Mary Curtis will be officiating the services with burial following in St. Peter's Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. There will also be a prayer service at 4:30pm on Wednesday before calling hours at the funeral home.
