Melvin L. Dible, age 81, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Melvin was born in Wyandot County, on August 28, 1942, to Ralph and Josephine (Williams) Dible. He was married to Shirley Lawson on August 20, 1966, in Bel Air, Maryland, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Melvin is also survived by his 6 children: Cindy (Ken) Gebhart of Sycamore, Lisa (Mike) Browning of Upper Sandusky, Lori (Brian) Moyers of Willard, Jeffrey Dible of Upper Sandusky, Jason Dible of Willard, and Matthew (Kalysta Kimmel) Dible of Fostoria, his grandchildren: Tony Adkins, Jeremy Adkins, Nicholas Browning, Sierra (Jeremy) Roberts, Brian Moyers Jr., Samantha Moyers, Chandler Dible, Gabby Dible, Emily Dible, Dalton Dible, Addison Dible, Koleton Dible, Aarin Dible, Greyson Dible, and Sebastian Dible, 4 great grandchildren: Chevy Adkins, Savannah Moyers, Mason Moyers, and Talynn Moyers, 2 step grandchildren: Jason (Melissa) Gebhart, Jessie (Seth) Buck, and 3 step great grandchildren: Haley Biddle, Leo Buck, and Maddie Gebhart.

Melvin is also survived by his siblings: Kenny (Sharon) Dible, Robert (Roseanne) Dible, Gary (Peggy) Dible, Rose Thiel, and Diana (Rick) Rettig.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Haley Dible, 2 brothers Eugene and Daryle Dible, and his infant sister.

Melvin served in the United States Army from 1964 – 1966. Melvin worked at the General Dynamics Tank Plant in Lima, Ohio, for 28 years until his retirement.

Melvin loved farming, gardening, cooking, and going fishing. He also enjoyed going to Bingo in more recent years, and he loved being with family.

A funeral service for Melvin Dible will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and will be officiated by Pastor Steve Sturgeon. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Although Mel was not a practicing Catholic, he strayed away from the Church, but not from God.

Visitations will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the service.
