Maxine L. Borland, age 90, of Marblehead and formerly of Morral, Ohio died Thursday, January 15 at 8:50pm at the Fairhaven Community-Main Campus, in Upper Sandusky.
Maxine was born on July 1, 1918 in Morral, Ohio to Charles W. and Dora M. (McIntire) Ferguson, both of whom are deceased. She married C. Darreld Borland on October 5, 1940 and he passed away on May 6, 1976.
Surviving Maxine are 2 sons: Larry (Pat) Borland of Bucyrus, Ohio and Rick (Sandy) Borland of Morral, Ohio. And 4 daughters: Linda (Lloyd) Kelly of Marblehead, Ohio, Karen Borland of Morral, Ohio, Trudy (John) Deem of Marion, Ohio, and Joyce (Marty) Schwartz of Marion, Ohio. Maxine is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers: Allen Ferguson, C. Robert Ferguson, Theodore Ferguson, Thorence Ferguson, and Dickie Ferguson, and three sisters: Ruth Rutter, B. Joan Cook, and Io Ferguson.
Maxine graduated from Morral High School in 1936 and later from Bowling Green State University in 1938 where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She taught school at McCutchenville School and later Ridgedale School for 23 years.
Since childhood, Maxine was a member of the Morral United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Danbury Senior Center, Marion City-County Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Ridgedale Teachers Association.
Maxine enjoyed traveling and had traveled to such places as Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and Austria. She also spent her winters in Sarasota, Florida.
One of the loves of Maxine, was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home. The Rev. Mary Curtis will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge, Ohio.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury Senior Center or Fairhaven Community - Activities Fund, or the Donor's Choice in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
