Mary Ann Starner

Mary Ann Starner, age 92, of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 12:28am at the Carlisle Place in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Ann was born on January 7, 1924 in Marion, Ohio, to Thomas and Nina (McGrath) Noblet, both of whom are deceased.  She married James F. Starner on September 9, 1949 and he died September 1, 2016.

She is survived by two children: Thomas (Paula) Starner of Bucyrus, Cathy (William) Brunskill of Columbus.  Three grandchildren: Chad (Holly) Starner, Brett (Jessica) Starner, Erin (Matthew) Weber, along with five great grandsons, Nicholas, Blake, and Lyman Starner, Carter and Lane Weber.

Ann was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul and Richard Noblet and a sister Ruth Hildebrand.

Mary Ann graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1941 and went on to enlist in the US Navy during World War II on June 1, 1944 in Naval Training School, and served at Hunter College Bronx, in New York; Medical Hospital Corp School in Bethesda, Maryland; Naval Hospital in Philadelphia as a physical therapist.

Ann was a homemaker and had worked for Dr. Jack Arnold and the White Cross Hospital in Columbus after coming home after the war.  She also had worked for the former Treasure Chest Store in Bucyrus.

Ann was a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church, where at one time was a very active member.  She was also a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star #3 in Bucyrus. For her hobbies she enjoyed sewing, and traveling throughout the States and Europe.

Graveside services for Mary Ann Starner will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, with Rev. Brad Smith officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bucyrus American Legion Post 181 after services.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada
