Mary Elizabeth Spiegel

Mary Elizabeth Spiegel, age 97, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 4:15 AM at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Mary was born on April 28, 1911 in Upper Sandusky to Harvey E. and Margaret E. (Snyder) Myers both of whom are deceased.

Mrs. Spiegel is survived by one son: Robert J. Spiegel of Columbus, Ohio, two sisters: Gwen Balthaser of Denver Colorado, and Ann Feeback of Canal Fulton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Philip M. Spiegel, three sisters, Margaret Swinehart, Jane Smith, Rebecca Herkless and one brother, Robert Myers.

Mrs. Spiegel retired from the Commercial Savings Bank in 1976 and then worked for many years at the Senior Citizens Center, both in Upper Sandusky.

She was a life member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky and of the United Methodist Women of the church. She also was a member of the Hospital Guild of Wyandot Memorial Hospital and of the Wyandot County Senior Citizens.

Funeral services for Mary E. Spiegel will be held at 1:00pm Monday, March 9, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Wayne Geisinger officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery.


Visitations will be held on Sunday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
