Mary Ann Lear, age 76 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 7:36am at her home in Upper Sandusky.

Mary Ann was born on September 18, 1945 in Richwood, Ohio, to Walter and Ivalou (Prater) Pfleider.  She married David Lear Sr. on December 7, 1963 at the First Lutheran Church by Rev. Charles Steward, having celebrated 58 years.

Surviving along with her husband are 4 children: David J. (Rita) Lear Jr., Mark (MaryLee) Lear, Jill (Ben) Stansbery, and Christopher (Misty) Lear.  Grandchildren, Chad (Shannon) Lear, Nicole (Trevor) Harrod, Carrie (Heather) Lear, Samantha (Eric) Mason, Seth Lear, Kaylee Lear, Shane (Makayla) Stansbery, Devon Hodgin, Dylan Michael, Ashley Michael, Riley Michael, Morgan Lear, and great grandchildren: Anna Lee Lear, Remi Lear, Raiden Lear, Chase Harrod, Kiley Davis, Ashlyn Davis, and Madison Davis.

Mary Ann is survived by 4 sisters, June Long, Betty Bear, Irma Shearer, and Cathy Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Barbara Bryant, Walter "Bill" Pfleider, and Robert Pfleider. A grandson Jordan Stewart and great grandchildren, Conner and Elizabeth Stewart.

Mary Ann graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1963 and went on to receive her LPN from Marion Technical College in 1974.  After her degree, she was active in the healthcare field for over 35 years, preferring geriatric settings, having worked at various facilities, including the Wyandot Manor, Fairhaven and the Carey Nursing Home.

Her main interest in life centered around her family and close friends.  She enjoyed bowling, live concerts, gambling at casinos and trips around the U.S. including New York and Las Vegas.

Per her request, services will be private and will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund of the Wyandot County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, or Hospice of Wyandot Memorial and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
