Mary L. Getz, age 99, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 3:00pm at the Inn at Westbrook in Upper Sandusky.

Mary was born on October 5, 1914 in Upper Sandusky to Carl W. and Esther K. (Lambright) Lynn. She married Garvin G. Getz on August 17, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, and he passed away on December 8, 2005.

She is survived by 2 sons, Lynn (Linda) Getz of Upper Sandusky, Brian (Nancy) Getz of Upper Sandusky. And 2 daughters Sharon McCreary of Upper Sandusky and Janice (James) Musgrave of Carey. 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Margaret Lyon.

Mary was a homemaker and in her younger years had worked at a variety of former businesses in Upper Sandusky, such as Ideal Dress Shop, Flox's Department Store and Snyder's Department Store and as a secretary for the National Steam Pump Company.

She was a member of the Little Sandusky Bible Church where she served as a substitute Sunday School teacher and as the church organist. She also participated in Child Evangelism Bible Class.

Mary was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing throughout her life, even at one time playing in a jazz ensemble. She also was an avid reader and an animal lover, especially her dogs.

She will be remembered as a dedicated and loving wife and mother, that would do anything for her family and one that was always there for them, even into their adulthood.

A gathering celebrating the life of Mary L. Getz will be privately held for her family. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Humane Society, The Radio Bible Class, or the Alzheimer's Foundation, and can be sent to the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
