Mary E. Barber, age 77, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died Tuesday, February, 24 at 2:30am at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

Mary was born on October 22, 1931 in Forest, Ohio to Burl and Fairy (Jolliff) Reed both of whom are deceased.

Mary was married to John Brodman Jr. on October 23, 1954 and they divorced. She then married George Robert Barber on February 23, 1979 and he died on November 7, 1980.

Mary is survived by one son: John A. (Kelly) Brodman II of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, three daughters: Mrs. Fred (Fairy) Wagner of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Teresa Adkins of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Ruthann Brodman of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, eleven Grandchildren and fourteen Great Grandchildren.

Also surviving Mary is one brother: Larry Lee Reed of Pensecola, FL, three sisters: Maxine Cupp of Sumter, SC, Mrs. Harold (Bernice) Durer of Tiffin, OH, and Mrs. Paul (Marie) Shuey of Tiffin, OH.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson: John Brodman III, a great granddaughter: Brandi Brodman, three brothers: Charles and Neal Reed and an infant brother, three sisters: Betty Parker, Ruth Fatzinger and Fairy Reed.

Mary graduated from Sycamore High School in 1950. She then worked as an assembler at Whirlpool Corporation in Marion, Ohio where she retired after 26 years in 1996.

Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby, Ohio and was a member and past president of each of the following organizations: American Legion Axillary #225, Amvets #777, Women of the Moose #1045, VFW Axillary #2842, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council #86. She was also a two time former district president of the VFW #10. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her beloved Bubbles.

In Mary's enjoyment of life, her diabetes and high blood pressure led to the failure of her kidneys. With her decision not to have dialysis, she has found rest and peace in heaven.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Mary at 10:30am Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Kirby, Ohio.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 2:00pm - 7:00pm where a Christian Wake Service and a Catholic Ladies of Columbia Service will be held following visitations at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's School or the 4-H Endowment fund in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
