Martha L. Bowman

Martha L. Bowman, 89, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, died at 2:35 p.m., Tuesday,
August 19, 2008, at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

She was born September 13, 1918, in Upper Sandusky, to Thomas M.and
Louise (Tschanen) Bowman, and they preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Alice (Edward) Nye and Mrs. Dorothy (Karl)
Pagnard, both of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Robert T. Bowman of North
Ridgeville, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and
two great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas M. Bowman.

Martha graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1936. She graduated from
the College of Wooster and earned her master's degree from Bowling Green
State University.

She was a school teacher for 40 years, having taught in Upper Sandusky and
Plymouth, and, in 1981, retired from Ashland Junior High School after 38
years.

She was a member of D.A.R., USANDO and AAUW. She enjoyed traveling the
country and abroad.

Martha was the longest active member in the First Presbyterian Church in
Upper Sandusky.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008, at
the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.

Funeral services will be held at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Friday, August
22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.with the Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Wyandot
County Historical Society or to the organization of the donor's choice in
care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home,
