Marjorie A. Mengerink, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died at 11:50am on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the North Campus of the Fairhaven Community.
Marjorie was born on February 4, 1921 in Carey, Ohio to Adam and Elizabeth (Reamsnyder) Frederick both of whom are deceased. She was married to Carson Mengerink and he is deceased.
Surviving Marjorie is a son: Fred (Judy) Mengerink of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Three Grandchildren: Kim (Doug) Caldwell of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Bryan (Janna) Mengerink of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Nick (Melissa) Mengerink of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, Seven Great Grandchildren: Shelby and McKenna Caldwell, Kendra Pontius, Carson, Courtney, Kyra, and Skyler Mengerink.
Marjorie is also survived by a stepson: Carson Mengerink Jr. of Smithville, Tennessee and a stepdaughter: Diane Metheny of Findlay, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl (Red) Frederick and Russell Frederick.
Marjorie graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1940. After graduation she worked at Neumeister's Bakery, Marion General Hospital as a Nurses Aid in Surgery and Recovery, the Village Restaurant, and she then did housekeeping for many area families.
Marjorie was a long time member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky. Her hobbies included spending time with her grandkids and socializing with her friends from her class of 1940. She also enjoyed watching any football, especially The Buckeyes.
Funeral services for Marjorie A. Mengerink will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 3pm - 5pm and 7pm - 9pm and one hour before service time on Friday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mental Health Association of Wyandot County or the Donor's Choice in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
