Marjorie L. Cottrell, age 96, of Marion, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her family
on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 3:52am at DeWolfe Place
Assisted Living in Marion, Ohio.
She was born on December 23, 1918 in Marion County, Ohio, to Roy and Alice (McFarlin) Brewer. She married Chester W. Cottrell on August 12, 1939 in North Baltimore, Ohio, and he passed away on April 21, 2002.
Marjorie is survived by 2 daughters, Karen (Joe) Moore of Springfield, Ohio, and Mary Jo Holland of Mansfield, Ohio. 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey(Kristi) Moore of Black Canyon City, Arizona, James (Lynne) Moore of Greenville, Wisconsin, John (Gina) Holland of Vermilion, Ohio, and Joel (Renae) Holland of Mansfield, along with 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Edwin Brewer, and a sister, Edith Schaadt, and a son in law, Dennis Holland.
Marjorie was a 1936 graduate of Marion Harding High School. She also was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, where she was a member of Grace Circle, Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class. She also held several offices, including Church Deaconess. She was also a member of the American Baptist Women and outside the church, she was a member of the Ladies Society of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman and Engineers.
Marjorie was a devoted wife and homemaker, of which she loved dearly. She felt blessed to take care of her family, especially Chet, in his later years.
For hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, bowling, and spending her winters with Chet in Frostproof, Florida.
Funeral services for Marjorie L. Cottrell will be held at 1:00pm Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, with Rev. Dr. Richard Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
Visitations will be held on Friday, 2 hours before service time, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Trinity Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
