Marilyn J. Swavel

Marilyn J. Swavel, age 80, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 03, 2011 at 1:50pm at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Marilyn was born on November 13, 1930 in Jackson Township, Wyandot County to James Clifford and Dorothy (Young) Emptage. Her mother passed at a young age and her father
was married again to Anna Marie Kellogg, all of whom are deceased.

Marilyn was once married to Charles Richard Swavel and he is deceased.

Surviving are 3 children, Roxanna J. (Randy) Rooper of Upper Sandusky, Rick (Sheri) Swavel of Upper Sandusky and Rodney J. (Josie) Swavel of Holt, Michigan, 6 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and 6 step great great grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister Betty (Carl) Lewis of Harpster and a half brother, Warren Keith Emptage of Columbus.

Marilyn was a homemaker and had worked for 25 years at Westinghouse and then 10 years at Continental Hose, both formerly of Upper Sandusky. She was a former member of Marseilles United Methodist Church and of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. She was active at one time in the former Rebekah Lodge in Marseilles and of the former Marseilles OES Chapter and now holds membership with the Kenton Chapter #364.

For hobbies Marilyn enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing scrabble, vegetable and flower gardening, loved watch OSU sports along with any professional sporting event and in her earlier years she enjoyed dancing.

Graveside services for Marilyn J. Swavel will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Fehl Cemetery outside of Marseilles with the Rev. Ben Gregory officiating.

Visitations will be on Tuesday, June 7, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
