Madalyn J. Young-Kuenzli

Madalyn J. Young-Kuenzli, age 93, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 6:40am in the Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.

Madalyn was born on July 25, 1920 in Sycamore, Ohio, to Walter and Dora (Miller) Roby, both of whom are deceased. She married Charles D. Young on November 24, 1945 and he passed away on October 27, 1988. She then married Byron C. Kuenzli on December 14, 1993 and he passed away on December 11, 2009.

She is survived by her son, Michael L. (Connie) Young of Bucyrus, and 2 step children, Sandi (Mike) Shutt, and Bernard (Rae) Kuenzli, both of Upper Sandusky, and 2 grandsons, Denny (Michele) Young of Ottawa, Ohio, Steve (Sheri) Young of Bucyrus, and 6 great grandchildren. Along with 7 step grandchildren, Monique (Scott) Paul, Renee (Rick) Gagnon, Heather Kuenzli, and Brianne (Chad) Smith, all of Upper Sandusky. Cyndi Shutt Ferrell of Toledo, Jennifer Shutt Bowie of Athens, Ohio, Michael B Shutt of Upper Sandusky, and 16 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild.

Madalyn is also survived by a sister, Nancy Roby of Upper Sandusky.

She is preceded in death by her brother George Roby.

Madalyn was a homemaker and also had worked for 5 years at the Upper Sandusky High School in the cafeteria. She then worked at the Dairy Snack Drive-In for 20 years.

Madalyn was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky.

For hobbies, Madalyn enjoyed baking, especially cookies and sour cream coffee cake, along with making her Maddy's macaroni and cheese, for family gatherings during the holidays.
She also enjoyed following NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson.

Madalyn touched many of the lives of the former employees that passed through the doors at the Dairy Snack during her years there. The family will always remember her way of saying goodbye, which was with a "love ya" and a hug. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Madalyn J. Young-Kuenzli will be held at 11:00am Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Jackie Underhill officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 13, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
