Lowell T. Murphy, age 80, of LaRue, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 9:20pm at the Sterling House in Marion, Ohio.
Lowell was born on October 3, 1934 in Marion, County to the late Oscar and Mildred (Rhoads) Murphy. He married Jacquelyn "Jackie" A. Constable on April 7, 1957 and she died on February 16, 2010, after 53 wonderful years together.
He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Ann (Gary) Gruber of Richwood, and 3 sons, Douglas l. (Diana) Murphy of Marion, Thomas A. (Shelly) Murphy of Morral, and Dale L. (Amy) Murphy of Kenton, along with 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Lowell has a sister, Beulah Mae (Donald) Williams of Prospect, and a brother Carl E. Murphy of Morral, and a sister in law, Loretta Murphy of Marion, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his close friends, Joe (Janet) Prettyman of New Bloomington, Bob (Margy) Nininger of LaRue and Harold (Inez) VanMeter of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Howard E. Murphy.
Lowell retired from the Marion Division of the Whirlpool Corporation on April 1, 2000 after 41 years.
He was a member of the Meeker United Methodist Church, the Circle M Horsemen's Club, having ridden in many area parades. A member of the Ponies of America Club of Shelby, North Central Ohio Dairy Goat Club, Ohio and American Dairy Goat Associations. He also was a long time 4-H advisor and Goat barn advisor at the Marion County Fair.
Lowell's greatest love after family was raising horses and ponies. He and Jackie started in the horse business shortly after their marriage. From American Albinos to Shetland ponies, and in later years his Haflingers, horses were always a part of his life.
Funeral services for Lowell T. Murphy will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Pastor Bill Snyder Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Goat Barn Building Fund for Marion County Fair or the Wyandot County Humane Society and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
