Louis G. "Bud" Thiel

Louis G. "Bud" Thiel, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 9:54am at the Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.

Louis was born on February 24, 1931 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Louis N. and Armella (Stark) Thiel, both of whom are deceased.  He married Jane Gabringer on June 6, 1953 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tiffin, and she survives.

He is also survived by his 2 children, David (Joyce) Thiel of Pickerington, Ohio and Sue Ann Galloway of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  Also surviving are 3 grandsons, John, Mark, and Gregory Thiel, and a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Forney of Tiffin.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl, and a son in law, Phillip Galloway.

He retired from the former Westinghouse-AO Smith in Upper Sandusky and farming after many years.

Louis was a 1948 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby and the Knights of Columbus #2050 of Upper Sandusky.

Louis' passions were his farming, and his Catholic faith.

A funeral Mass for Louis G. "Bud" Thiel will be held at 1:00pm Friday, December 27, 2019 at St. Mary's Chapel in Kirby with Father Conrad Sutter OFM Conv and Deacon Kevin Winterstellar officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Visitations will be held on Friday, from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the St. Mary's Chapel, with a rosary to be prayed 20 minutes before  Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for a Mass for Louis at a Catholic church of your choice.
