Leroy D. "Lee" Hessey

Leroy "Lee" D. Hessey, age 67, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 6:29am at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Leroy was born December 13, 1940 to George and Edna (Bodey) Hessey in Crawford County, Ohio both of whom are deceased. He then married Camilla June (Barker) Hessey on June 12, 1964 in Crestline, Ohio, she died on January 27, 2005. They were married 40 years.

Surviving are two sons: Donald Lee (& his wife Melody) Hessey Sr. of Findlay, Ohio, Gary Hench of Shelby, Ohio, two daughters: Pamela (& her fiance Donald Bland Jr.) Hessey of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Caren Smith of Lake Galion, Ohio, six grandchildren: Donald Lee (& his fiancee Stephanie) Hessey Jr., Lisa (& her husband Dan) Hoy, Kimberly Benson, Mikel Straka, Jennifer (& her husband Reuben) Landon, and Rodney (& his wife Terry) Hadsell. He also had ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Hank Hessey of Bucyrus, Ohio and Wayne Hessey of Eugene, Oregon, and one sister, Katherine Bowers of Tiffin, Ohio. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters: Edna Merl Foreman, Rena Hoffman, Leona Belle Hessey, Ruth Goff, Velma Fitzpatrick, Georgia Altenberg and 6 brothers: James Hessey, Kenneth Hessey, Gerald Hessey, William Hessey, George Hessey, and John Hessey.

Lee worked at Continental Hose for 22 years. He was
also employed at PPG, Timken, and Findlay Industries. He was a veteran
of the United States Navy

Lee was a member of both Community Christian Center, in Upper Sandusky and the Amvets Post #777, in Upper Sandusky. He was very involved with youth baseball, coaching minor, little and pony league baseball. He also enjoyed woodworking, riding on his Harley, watching sports, especially those of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

The funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Bill Williamson Officiating the service. Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky with full military graveside rites conducted at the cemetery.

Visitations will be on Thursday, May 8 from 2-4 and from 6-9pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
